Brief academic CV
Antonios Kanaras received his diploma in Chemistry from the
University of Crete, Greece in 1996. After a Masterís degree in Bioinorganic Chemistry from the University of Ioannina,
Greece, he received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Liverpool in 2004 under the supervision of Prof. Mathias Brust.
The title of his PhD thesis was "Enzymatic Manipulation of DNA-Gold Nanoparticles". He was a postdoctoral scientist with
Prof. Paul Alivisatos at the University of California,
Berkeley until 2006 working on the synthesis and energy applications of semiconductor nanoparticles.
He then re-joined Mathias Brust group at the University of Liverpool as a Research Associate working on the
bioconjugation and biological applications of gold nanoparticles. In October 2007 he became an Assistant Professor in Physics and Astronomy,
University of Southampton and in March 2012 he was promoted to Associate Professor.
Antonios has publications in several high impact factor international multidisciplinary Journals.
He has given several talks and posters in prestigious conferences including the ACS and the Gordon Research Conference
